Green Festive Fun This Season

Written by admin

With the Christmas season a few weeks away now I thought it would be a good time to update you all on the upcoming green Christmas fairs fetes and gatherings this month and next. If youre like me and find the High Street slightly souless and far too hectic in the run up to Christmas try searching out a local green Christmas event near you where you can buy from independent handmade and green traders.
The one thing I love when I visit these sort of events is the sheer variety of stallholders exhibiting. You may get an international charity selling sponsored goat gifts and farm tools next to crafters who have refashioned reclaimed fabrics into wonderful recycled creations next to beautiful willow sculptures and woodland crafts. Its often a great way to spend a wintery afternoon and one Id recommend to all of you looking for gifts that make a difference this Christmas.
To kick off the round up of seasonal fare Im organising GreenFinders third Green Christmas Fair in Leamington on Saturday 12th December 11-3. There will be green and ethical stalls along with refreshments Dr Bike and a clothes swap. Green Santa and his elves will putting in an appearance too. More details here.
In Birmingham the local Friends of the Earth group are holding a Green Christmas Fayre on Saturday 19th December at the Exchange Building in Mosely from 11 till 4 and just a few miles down the road in Solihull Fat Fluffs the rabbit rescue centre is hosting a festive fundraiser on Saturday 12th December 12-5.
In Brighton there will be a Jingle Bells and Eco Tales event on 13th December 11-4 at the Old Gas Works opposite the Brighton Marina. Green Santa will have his own green living grotto and there will also be carol singers green speakers and an array of stalls for all the family.
Monkton Wyld Court in Dorset are holding their winter fair on Saturday 28th November 11 till 4 and again there will be a host of seasonal activities going on for all ages.
If you are keen to find eco events near you do sign up for my monthly green events e-newsletter here and to view more green event listings please click here.

Au revoir from GGG!

Written by admin

April 2010 Update: The brand new global green transition blog TransitionVert.com is now live! This fantastic new site has been launched by one of our former Green Guys Gareth and is one of the worlds few multi-lingual blogs on the internet. Find inspirational articles videos and polls on all things green as the Transition Vert team Write Share Change.

So this is the last post from Green Girls Global for now. We are taking an indefinite break from our blogging here to work on all the other things that busy green girls do.
Heres a great big thank you to all of the editors for their brilliant writing over the past few years and to guest contributors who have brought their news views and ideas into the mix. Of course the biggest thanks is to our lovely readers whether they are new ones who have just discovered us or those from back in the day. Thank you!
Weve had lots of fun running Green Girls Global and Green Guys Global and were really proud of the things weve achieved in such a short time. Some of the highlights include having features in the Times Online and Marie Claire being involved in the fabulous Eco Chic Weekly and selling our own stylish organic t-shirts created by the very talented artist and Green Girl Lee Tracy.
Whats next for the girls and guys of GGG? Well we all have our own businesses projects and blogs that keep us very busy. Take a look at our editors page to see what were all up to. Mine & Jezs Green Hosting company will continue to host the site as theres just too much good stuff here to take it down and Green Guy Gareth will be back again soon with an exciting blog of his own so watch this space!
For now please do keep enjoying the articles here on the blog and thank you again for all your support.
Love from GGG x

BP Announces Accelerated Payments of Commercial Large Loss Claims

Written by Greeyn Blogger

BP today announced that it has approved initial payments toward 90% of commercial large loss claims that have been filed as a result of financial losses of the Deepwater Horizon incident and spill. Using an accelerated process BP approved payments of 337 checks for a total amount of $16 million to businesses that have filed claims in excess of $5,000. Initial payments began over the weekend and will be completed this week. The remaining outstanding commercial large loss claims are awaiting documentation and are continuing through the process.

The acceleration of commercial large claims payments will help ease the burden on impacted businesses by providing access to money in a short period of time.

Improvements to the commercial large claims process have been made as a result of applying learning from the existing individual claims process, as well as consultations with local, state, Department of Homeland Security and United States Coast Guard officials.
Future process improvements include:
